Notes:
Earlier this year I graded my backyard for a garage. To cover the red clay I scraped topsoil from another part of the yard and put on top of the red dirt. This is where my garden is now.
Months later I started seeing little vines appear all over the garden. They appear and grow relatively fast. Some plants (if I let them go that long) develop smallish, spindly purple flowers. They pull up from the ground very easily, but often “hide” in my bean rows until they take over a plant.
I never recall seeing this vine in my backyard before disturbing the soil.
Quite positive it is not kudzu, as I have compared new kudzu shoots and this vine, and the two look very different.
