This was picked up by my dog. The way the tail was moving while coming out of its mouth made me think it was a dead animal at first. Found in the dirt, dark area. Feels just like rubber, almost squishy, but when cut, it looks like a potato of some kind. The crooked ‘tail’ is hairy to the point that it looks like a tail. What the heck is it?

None of the pictures I found on-line of burdock root even resemble this at all. The on-line pictures are all of thin roots. This is about 8 inches long and is about 3″ in diameter.
