Mystery Shrub | Walter Reeves: The Georgia Gardener

Name that plant

Recently bought house, and am trying to identify this shrub, at least I think it is a shrub.

Could you make new post with closeup of leaves & branches? For now a wild guess in the two genera to check out: species in the madrone (Arbutus) & manzanita (Arctostaphylos) genus. Although I can’t tell for certain, I’m leaning toward the manzanita group? This is a large genus with numerous hybrids. Again I’m only purely speculating.
