Just popped up a few days ago and bloomed today. Appears to grow from bulbs. What is it?

That’s what we call them as well and the bloom stalks on mine should be popping out of the ground any day now.

Yes it is. I don’t know when they first came to the U.S.; but I have some on an old house site. There hasn’t been a house there for about 100 years; but they come back every fall.
