Notes:

An odor haunted the end of the driveway for seven years before we pinned it to this plant. The best I can describe it is old sweaty gym shoes dusted liberally with wet dog hair. What is is this foul beast?

Viburnum are the stinkiest of all plants.. There are deciduous trees, evergreen plants in 8b and up. I would call it a deciduous shrub. Wet mangy dog in a boys locker room has always been the words I used to describe the odoriferousness of the plant. The wood is the main culprit of the stench! Lucky for you it freezes to the ground each year. Even when you cut the wood and store it, the odor is still emitted from the plant.

Would you call this a tree, shrub or weed that dies back to the ground every winter?
