Notes:
This is growing in the bay area of Northern California. This bloom (the huge thing shooting out of the green leafy plant) shows up every few years. The last one was 4 years ago. It just bloomed about 2 weeks ago. Not sure if our drought has effected it’s bloom frequency. But we’ve had a lot more rain this season.

Maybe a species of the Doryanthes genus. Sorry, I don’t know whether this is D. pameri (Giant Spear Lily) or D. excelsa (gymea lily). Perhaps you can confrim its ID. Thank you and best wishes! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doryanthes
