I live in the foothills up towards truckee ca. I have never in the 3 years we’ve lived here seen this plant. It’s got broad green leaves and a bell like flower on it. The animals won’t go near it.

plant is not close enough to narrow down is ID. I’m guessing only, maybe Pacific hound’s tongue (Cynoglossum grande). According to source the leaves contain carcinogenic alkaloids.
