This must self seed. The house where I saw it has a large plot that has worked its way into another yard too. The plant is about six inches tall now, in August, but when it bloomed last fall it was over a foot tall. The flowers are purple and develop from bottom to top. The leaves are slender.

Looks like Obedient Plant (Physostegia virginiana). You can turn the flowers on the stem and they’ll stay where you move them, hence the common name. But it’s quite invasive, so we’ve nicknamed it Disobedient Plant!

I have the obedient plant in full/partial sun. I see buds but it has not bloomed in years. Is there fertilizer that I can put on it? I have some 10-10-10 in my basement.
