Notes:

This is a plant growing in my daughter’s backyard in Stuart, FL – would like to know what it is and is it edible. The seed pod holds two seeds and the leaves are about the size of a lady’s hand.

Wish I could see more of the tree, i.e. the whole tree, the opened fruit with its seeds, etc… Maybe Jatropha curcas, a species in the physic nut/purge nut genus (Jattropha). On its edible property, it’s depending which sources you read. some says ‘yes’, other says ‘no’. Check out these including links for further information. In my humble opinion, I rather pass consuming something with the name ‘purge nut’. Click on images to enlarge. Best wishes! https://keyserver.lucidcentral.org/weeds/data/media/Html/jatropha_curcas.htm
