Notes:
My 1.5yr old daughter has a rash after helping me prune some flowers to give to my wife in celebration of her pregnancy (found out today!!). I felt some itchiness as I pruned and after a couple hours too. My daughter was simply playing with the leaves as I pruned. Her rash is over most of her torso. Is this flower known to cause rashes? A milk-like substance secreted from the stem of the all white flower. Thanks for your help!

Gardenia is generally considered safe. Iris rhizomes and bulbs contain a fairly mild skin irritant that can cause a rash. Any time you find a plant exuding a milky sap and it gets on you, you should was it off as soon as possible with soap and water just in case.
