Notes:
I live in the panhandle of Florida. I found the spiked root, slightly damaged where an armadillo was digging. I dropped it into an empty pot of soil, on a whim.

Without other details i.e. flowers, fruits, and more mature of a specimen to tell more. I’m guessing for now, maybe a species in the greenbrier (Smilax) genus?
