There are a few white varmits and a ton of red bugs on one of my hanging basket plants. I have no idea what they are or how to get rid of them. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. Bobby Unregistered says:

The white critter looks like a mealy bug. The others are perhaps red spiders. Try setting the basket out in the lawn and spraying it good under a medium pressure water hose. Do that for 3 or 4 days in a row. You may be able to simply knock the pest off the plant that way.

  2. Southern Garden Coach Flower Fanatic says:

The white spiky critter looks to be a mealy bug, accompanied by numerous aphids. It’s tough to recommend a control product because of the blurry photo, but the safest product is an insecticidal soap. I might add that unless this plant is the last known example of it’s species, it might be more practical to toss it and get another.
