Please help me identify this weed including suggestions on how to control.

This summer weed acts like crab grass as it thrives during hot summer months and dies off in winter.

WeedBeGone has zero effect.
Crabgrass killer appears to do more damage to the grass than this weed.

The best control I’ve found is Spotlight

Walter, we’ve hit a snag and I have a sneaky feeling you knew! Dow Agro pulled Spotlight off the market last year. Existing inventories can be used but no one is able to restock. Momentum FX2 is a 24D product that also contains Fluroxyphr the active indegredient in Spotlight. Spotlight was 26.2% Fluroxyphr. Momentum FX2 is 4.2%. That is only part of the rub. 30.56% 24D in Momentum FX2, IMHO, makes it pert’near worthless as a summer application for Buttonweed control. The recommended rate of 1.1 oz per 1000 sq ft of Momentum FX2 would be a hot mix on any turf type during the summer months, when Buttonweed is thriving. The Fluroxyphr content of the product ain’t much so consequently we burnup the bermuda and give the buttonweed a mild headache! Sorry folks, no Spotlight at the stores and my price for a spotlight application just went WAY UP.
Momentum FX2 is not a restrictive use herbicide. It is available at John Deere Landscapes. The product would probably run around $70.00 per gallon. Virginia Buttonweed is on the label. Do not use on Centipede or St Augustine.
As always, read the Label before applying the product.

I have been trying to kill my buttonweed for 5 years now with no success…kill some of it and it comes back in other places stronger than ever. I never had it until I bought some dirt from a landscaping co. that brought it in – OMG – I have used Image and burnt up my bermuda grass and it still lives. What can I do?? I am willing to pay $70.00 for the Momentum FX2 – I am a Hall County (GA) Master Gardener and my life is playing in the dirt – please help me!!
