Notes:

The plant appeared in my garden this spring. I’ve never seen it before, but left it grow because I was curious. It’s now almost 5 feet tall.

    The tender young leaves make a greens similar to spinach, in taste, if par boiled first. Not poison if par boiled.

    It will eat your garden if unchecked. Letting it grow this big may have been a big mistake as it will have made a large tuber underground and will come up all over from that as well as seeds.

    I’m sure it’s pokeweed. The birds “plant”the seeds when they poop. It’s poisonous,but kind of pretty!
