This plant comes up every year and stays about 2 feet tall until September when it shoots up to as much as 9 feet and produces these yellow flowers with 14 petals. The leaves are a dark glossy green. I can’t remember if I planted it or it sprang up but it’s only in this one spot in my yard.

It could be swamp sunflower, Helianthus angustafolia.
