Notes:

Close to 2 meters tall. Haven’t seen it before. About 3 of these plants appeared while we were away on vacation. Online searching hasn’t helped.

    This might be a species in the Oenothera genus. There are about 145 species. Common names include evening Primrose, sundrops, and suncups. I can’t see the whole plant, so I am guessing this maybe Common Evening Primrose (Oenothera biennis). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oenothera_biennis

    I should also mention that the yellow flowers seem to come right out of the stem and that there are withered looking small leaves at the base of each of the bigger leaves. I wonder if the withered parts used to be yellow flowers? Very odd. Can anyone help?
