I saw this growth on a Texas Mountain Laurel during a recent walk in my neighborhood. I’ve never seen such a thing, though it looks like it belongs on the tree/shrub. It is somewhat similar to the stalks left behind when flowers drop off, and resembles a staghorn fern a bit. It’s about five or six inches long and maybe three inches at its widest point.
