Notes:
I am sure this is a fairly simple task but I cannot figure out what type of tree this is. According to my guide, it has alternate compound leaves that are smooth or wavy. It the spring, it drops yellowish, slender stems with a string of orange-ish flowers on both sides. Any ideas?

Hi Jim, thanks for the response. I was using the Peterson Field Guide for Eastern Trees to help me. It is all one tree. I am not sure about the vine, would also like to know what it is as well.

Cannot tell that the leaves are compound from the picture – in fact, seems they are not. What do you mean by “According to my guide…”? – a person? – a book?

I’m curious about the vine growing on tree on the right. Do you know what it is? If not, why not post some closeups of it, too?

Looks like 3 separate trees. Do all three have the same type leaf? The leaf shape is very simple, and could be a lot of possible trees: Blackgum seems more likely. The trees look too big to be persimmon or silverbell. I am only an amateur with some knowledge on what grows wild in the Southeast. Hopefully you’ll eventually get the attention of one the more expert followers.

Do I need additional information or pictures to help determine what type of tree this is? Thanks.
