Notes:

I’m trying to determin what kind of tree this is. We live by the river and this tree is very close to it. I think it’s a sycamore tree, but need a little help please.

It looks like a sycamore leaf. The trunk of the tree would be one of the most notable characteristics of that species. To quote Wikipedia “An American sycamore tree can often be easily distinguished from other trees by its mottled exfoliating bark, which flakes off in great irregular masses, leaving the surface mottled, and greenish-white, gray and brown.” I can’t really see that in this picture so compare it to the bark shot in this link. http://www.oplin.org/tree/fact%20pages/sycamore/sycamore.html

I say it’s a sycamore tree. A can barely see the peeled bark but it is slightly flaky. Also, the leaves look like sycamore leaves to me. I’m a student at Gwinnett Technical College.
