Smooth leaves . Uncertain of Ht. Have been told that it might be a Tulip Magnolia,but I have never seen it bloom as I am always cutting it down . Growing near a big rock in full sun.

It is hard to tell without more information. However, look up pawpaw (Asimina triloba) and see if this fits. Suggestion: Don’t cut it down this year and observe.
