I have this in my front yard, I’ve dug around and am coming up empty as to what kind of artichoke it is. Everything says that it should be closed and tight, but it never had been, as you can see in the smaller buds. There are over 30 buds on this thing now, what is it? Need to figure out when to harvest it, if possible…

It appears to be the cousin of the artichoke which is cardoon. It has grown in popularity as a landscape plant.
