Notes:
Saw these little critters on my Lipan crepe myrtle back in April. Very small, 1/8 to 1/4 inch maximum. Together in a group and moving quite quickly. Have not seen them since.

Thank you, Laura! I think you are correct that it is a nymph of a stink bug. And I’m going to hope it’s the spined soldier and that these guys took out a few pests this summer!

I am not an entomologist. But these guys look similar to the nymphs from two different insects. One is the spined soldier bug, a predatory stink bug ( Podisus maculiventris). the other is the rice stink bug (Oebalus pugnax). Since you found these guys on the crepe myrtle and not on rice & wheat plants, I am hoping, and leaning toward the good ‘spined soldier’. But I am not a bug expert.
