This flower came up as a volunteer or perhaps gnomes planted it during the night? It has lastes most of the summer and is just now dying off. It made a lot of seed pods that contained tiny black seeds. The stalks are kinda prickly Hope it comes back next year.

    Those are cleome or spider flower. Yes, they will definitely come back. I love them and like to be surprised where they come back every spring.

    You might have to pull them out from places you don’t want them cause they do spread easily.
