I’ve seen this plant growing near a road in my neighborhood. I now see it growing among some rocks in my yard. It seems like it might be a creeping/spreading plant but I don’t know what it is or whether it is a good plant to have around. A few plants have sprung up in the grass of my yard nearby as well. I’ve been looking for some spreading “groundcover” to grow among this rock bank in my backyard. Has nature provided an answer?

Are the stems jointed?

I would say yes. It looks like on a stem there is a bract from which a new leaf emerges. As the leaf grows this bract opens wider and the new leaf with its own stem starts to grow out to the side.

This is not pc but it’s called wandering jew, it has a blue flower in the center of the leaves as it grows and spreads. Most have considered it a weed when it takes over on roadsides and yards. But it is pretty in a hanging basket. It would work for your purpose and you can thin it out alot
