Unknown tree/bush with edible fruit??

Notes:

My Aunt recently moved into a house on St. Simons Island and discovered this tree (or large bush) in her backyard. As you can see in the 2 photos, the leaves are rather large and the small fruit appears to turn yellow as it ripens. She actually tasted the mature fruit and said it tasted really good. Any ideas what this could be?

Loquat, also called Japanese plum. Flowers are wonderfully fragrant in late summer. Fruit matures in late winter and is really good. Don’t eat the seeds, though. The seeds, however, so sprout easily when planted right after harvesting. Loquar makes great jam.
