Notes:

We have several volunteers that have taken over our garden. They all started from seeds out of our compost.
Thought this was a watermelon, until we cut it on half.
Is this an over size Zucchini?
Or a cross?

    Walter,
I am following up with some more information.

Last year we grew Spaghetti Squash, Zucchini and Yellow Neck Squash with other typical vegetables. We did not grow any type of melons or other varieties of the Gourde Family.

Since this is a volunteer that started from our compost, I would assume that some sort of cross pollination had occurred last year. But with what?? Is this just a over size Zucchini?
Please let me know what you think…

This looks like a calabacita squash, of Mexican origin, which is very similar to the taste of zucchini.

It can be used in any recipe that calls for zucchini.
