Weed (?) in herb garden

Notes:

Several of these tall plants have popped up in my herb garden in the past several weeks. The largest one is about 3 feet tall. I have just been hand pulling to remove, but want to find out what they are in case I should be doing something different. Thanks for the help.

    American Burnweed. Local lawncare operators call it fireweed in the Metro area. In your herb garden you are doing the only thing now I would recommend. The seed floats from the plant like a dandilion seed in the fall. I have my suspicions that weekly lawn maintenance in October and November keep the seed blown from lawn areas. It seems those lawns with weekly services at that time have less of problem the following spring. My point is, the weekly use of a power blower across your herb garden this fall may help.
