Notes:

Last fall I sowed some Chinese Lantern seeds – fascinating flower! – and this plant is growing near or at where I *think* I remember sowing the seeds… Is it the Chinese Lantern or is it a weed?

much depends on how you define “weed”
The leaves and flowers look like four o’clock…..which some gardeners love and some dislike

That’s it I’m sure…some time back I had four o’clocks in that area of the bed and yes I eventually considered it to be a “weed.” Amazing how an abundance of rain causes dormant seeds to sprout!

yes this is ‘four o’clock.’ I have it in many colors. I do love and yet I don’t. I have to have flowers 24hrs and all year round, which can happen only if you allow all these wide spreading flowering plants, e.g. morning gloweries, four o’clock, bee balm, cosmos and etc. I do have many many varities of flowering plants just because I do like all kinds, color and sort of flowers but most of them are annoying in their growing habbit.
