This plant grows beside the office building I work in. Each year in late summer the facilities people cut it down to nothing…and then the following spring it comes back bigger than ever. What is it?

This is a canna lily. They come in various colors of flowers, and some of the leaves can be bronze to purple. Very nice plant.

looks like a canna (lily) to me. I do cut mine down in the winter.

These are canna lilies. They are great for dividing and sharing and look beautiful when they are kept deadheaded.

Without knowing a specific variety, it appears to be yellow canna lilies.
