Notes:
I live in St. Paul, MN and this popped up in my garden. The leaves are fuzzy/rough/sticky, not soft like lamb’s ear. The stems have short, prickly ‘hairs’ but not thorns. It is a rather tall plant, almost chest height. We chopped it down last year before it could flower, but decided to let it grow this year to try and figure out what it is. I don’t know if it is a weed, or what! Help?

I’m going to say comfrey, too. I recently added comfrey to my garden, and it looks just like it.

it might be a comfrey (Symphytum) or borage (Borago officinalis)… or a hackeleia As they are all in the same family, best bet is to wait for bloom. http://www.luontoportti.com/suomi/en/kukkakasvit/?c=Boraginaceae

The yellow is the hops plant, which is next to this plant. This plant has small clusters of light purple flowers, as shown in the other pictures.

Is that yellow the flower or is that something else?
