Notes:

I found a “congregation” of bugs this morning on my house. They are almost square, mostly torso with small legs and head visible. They seem to have brownish-red spotting close up on what otherwise look like a black bug.
Can you ID these bugs? Are they harmful to my house or household? If so what is the best course of action?
Your information and advice most welcome.

These bugs are driving me crazy! Every time I take my dog out, they fly and stick to my clothes and hair. I always think I’ve gotten them off of me and then one always shows up in my house! I first noticed them last spring and thought they must be only in Loganville because I had never seen them in 30 years in Snellville.

PLEASE, can someone offer advice to keep these bugs away from my house and yard??? Thanks!

Just found them today swarming on neighbor’s fig tree here on Tybee Island, Ga. Came to Look them up on Google since I had not heard of them before.

Numbers of these little black bugs on the big fig is amazing.

So far I have only seen them there, but family says they have seen them at houses on the beach.
