Notes:

Traveled from Atlanta to Murphy NC to attend a family reunion and while there saw this wonderful tree, the tree is on a small mountain side and looks to have grape like clusters hanging. I was not able to get very close.
A big thank you from New York.

I have a house just outside of murphy = empress trees are not yet in pod. also – I would expect the leaves to be much larger.

Let me tell you something that no one else has. During the second year, my Empress Tree formed flower buds on the ends of all it’s branches. Some 2 to 2 1/2 feet of flower buds. The flower buds are somewhat unattractive, but I guess some people would call them “winter interest” after the leaves fall in the autumn. In the Spring, the buds bloomed and, with the branches reaching towards the heavens, the tree truly looked like a Royal Empress. BUT, then the flowers faded and floated away and the seed pods began to grow. And grow. By June, I had 2 to 2 1/2 feet of large clustered seed pods (aka “shooter marbles”) on the ends of each branch.
