Notes:

I have two different types of holly bushes in my front yard. Both are evergreen and have red berries. One I have identified as an American Holly, the other I am not sure. I am asking this as I want to do some heavy pruning as they both are over 10 feet tall and are out of control. The pictures you see are of the same bush. What is it and when should I do the heavy pruning on both bushes?

On most holly varieties when a severe or renovation pruning is needed the best timing is late winter to early spring as new foliage is beginning to emerge.
