Notes:
These 6 leaf plants remind me of umbrellas. They are all over the ground in the middle of the woods where light is able to penetrate. Various sizes.

I’ve read the fruit is delicious and it is quite unlikely anyone could eat enough for toxicity. There are many recipes online for the fruit which is pale yellow when ripe. However, the rest of the plant is toxic. http://www.motherearthnews.com/real-food/may-apple-zmaz77jazgoe.aspx

Podophyllum peltatum, commonly known as mayapple. You’ll find a single flower (white to yellow-ish in color) or a fruit beneath the paired leaves. Although the name is tempting, the fruit or “apple” is toxic if eaten in large amounts. Each umbrella-shape is considered one palmately lobed leaf.
