What’s that bug? (ID complete)

Notes:

I see these bugs periodically around the house. The extension service said it was an immature cockroach but I’ve never seen an adult roach. They are usually alone, not in groups, and usually just appear in the middle of the carpet, or sometimes in the bathroom. It looks kind of like a larder beetle, from what I can find, but not exactly.

    I get good control success using the gel baits (Combat, etc) that are applied with a syringe.
