Thanks! You are probably right Lactuca hirsuta is called hairy lettuce. The leaves are have more hair towards the base and less as you move away from the base.

I’m pretty sure it’s lactuca. Resembles one I’ve seen called “hairy lettuce” either online or in one of my refernce books – but there’s so many species which in turn have so many different common names, I don’t even know if you could find that name online. Taste it (small nibble, prepared to spit). It looks to me to be similar to several lettuces that I have tested that aren’t bitter, and at least would blend well in a salad if you wouldn’t care to eat it by itself.

Could be Datura – jimmson weed – which is poisonous. And has while sap. Or plain old dandelion.
