Woods cabbage?

Notes:

This plant was growing in the shade alongside a path in the Old 4th Ward. It has long leaves like a magnolia but they’re a little fuzzy and it also looks like a cabbage in the way that it unfolds.

We’re looking for native shade plants for our backyard and thought this was pretty. Any idea what it is and if it can be purchased in this area?

    This appears to be common mullein (Verbascum thapsus). I bet that if you went onto eBay and searched for seeds, you could find some. It is a biennial and likes sun.
