Notes:
I recently acquired a plant from a gardening friend, and discovered another yellow flowering daisy-like plant growing next to it. It has been blooming since late September. What is it? I hope it isn’t a weed, it is beautiful next to my purple verbena.

It’s hard to tell the height of your plant from the picture. Is it providing a tall background for the verbena? If it is a compact growing plant then it probably isn’t a variety of Helianthus or sunflower and we should continue searching! If it does tend to get a little leggy my guess is Helianthus angustifolius

Some may call it a weed but, that’s all in the eye of the beholder. I hope this helps or heads you in the right direction.

Looks like my .”Swamp Sunflower” which is outstanding in the Fall.

A neighbor gave me aa plant that looks an awful lot like the one in the photo. I have no idea what it is – I’ve had friends tell me it’s everything from an evening primrose to a coreposis.
But like j_ingeorgia says, it’s all in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I LOVE mine!
