Notes:

This is a prevalent wild yellow flower around my yard and neighborhood that is very invasive and blooming now in VA. It is about 3-4 feet tall with yellow flower spikes as seen in picture. Nice leave structure. Seems pretty common around here but not sure what it is. Appreciate any identification.

Verbesina… Probably Verbesina occidentalis Not invasive… Verbesina is a great native wildflower… attractive to bees and butterflies and birds. While it does spread well from seed, verbesina is actually supposed to be there… Found an article with pics and description of three of the common verbesinas: https://bwwellsassociation.wordpress.com/2014/09/19/flowering-now-in-central-north-carolina-verbesina-occidentalis-crownbeard-and-its-relatives/
