South
Africa
I had a
great time with a group of gardeners, spouses and friends on a trip to
Johannesburg and Cape Town in January. We visited gardens, had wine
tastings, stayed in fabulous hotels and saw innumerable wild animals in
the African bushlands. I had so much fun, I'm considering leading
another trip in 2011...maybe to Australia/New Zealand. Click here

Smoke Tree (Cotinus
coggygria)
Small tree
native to Eurasia. Although not much to look at this time of year, now
is the time to plant trees and shrubs. In late spring, the smoketree
will be covered with mauve/pink fluffy flower clusters at the ends of
the branches which resemble smoke. Great for small gardens. Learn
