A new home in my neighborhood had bermudagrass sod planted in March. By May, one area was a perfect checkerboard of straight lines, composed of weedy plants in the ruts surrounding the individual squares of sod. Do you have ruts or low places in your lawn?

Midknight Blue Lily of the Nile (Agapanthus x 'Monmid')
Perennial native to Africa. It's hard to miss the large plantings of blue-blooming Agapanthus in places like California. In years past, I tried to grow them here but always lost them over the winter. Midknight Blue is touted as having better cold tolerance (-10), so I'm giving it another try and so should you.
