Tardiva Hydrangea
(Hydrangea paniculata
'Tardiva')
 Deciduous
shrub native to Asia. The Tardiva (or panicle) hydrangea is one of the
last hydrangeas to flower. It's also one of the few hydrangeas that
seem able to tolerate full sun. Unlike earlier blooming hydrangeas,
Tardiva blooms on new growth making it less likely to suffer late
freeze damage or late pruning.

A reader asks: "My redbud trees are showing signs of
distress. The leaves are turning brown and the bark appears to be
splitting along the trunk. They are about 10 years old. I've found that
this may be a canker disease. Is it this disease or some other
problem?"
