Although not every native plant is drought-tolerant or carefree, their main advantage is that they are more adapted to our heat and humidity. Many are just as colorful as common non-native plants you'd find at a garden center. The University of Georgia has just published a great compilation of native trees, shrubs and vines you should consider for your landscape.
