Cuba Trip 2012 – Buildings
It’s like a time bomb went off in the 1950’s: many buildings still stand but they have had NO maintenance for 60 years. No paint, no exterior repairs, no improvements….just the effects of weather on stucco and wood. We would see building that had had a semi-recent coat of paint standing right beside one that was nothing but a shell. Remember, many of these homes once held a single rich family but have now been divided into five or six small apartments. Plus there are many candidates for “Ugliest Building in the Neighborhood” which were built by the Soviets in the 1980’s.
