Hummingbirds – Nectar Recipe

Few creatures are more fun to watch than hummingbirds at a feeder. Although their numbers may vary markedly throughout the year, local bird experts recommend keeping your feeder up even in winter.

A red feeder plus a red ribbon fluttering nearby will be irresistible!

Make your own hummingbird nectar by mixing 1 part white sugar with 4 parts water. Make extra and keep in your refrigerator for next time.

Some bird watchers recommend boiling the mixture to delay “souring” in the feeder but others simply wash the feeder and replace the liquid once per week.
