Gardenias – Varieties
Q: I’m looking for gardenias that can withstand a cold winter. I have planted ‘August Beauty’ and they die each winter. What varieties do you recommend?
A: I’ve had good results with ‘Kleim’s Hardy’, also known as ‘Daisy’. It has a much more open habit than ‘August Beauty’ but likewise blooms sporadically through summer after its heavy and fragrant bloom period in May.
