Q: How should I store canna bulbs that I dig up and keep indoors through the winter?
A: Canna roots will usually get through winter fine if the soil is well-drained and you cover them with a couple of inches of pine straw. Cut the stems when the leaves are brown. Well-drained soil is key: if the roots stay soggy in winter, you’ll have nothing but brown goo in spring.
