Cutleaf Coneflower – Identification

Q: We picked this up from a friend a couple of years ago. It blooms in August, producing yellow flowers with radial petals and a brown center, looks a bit like a coneflower. Leaves are three-lobed (my terminology may not be so hot) with serrated edges.

It’s rather weedy looking until it blooms. It also wilts very quickly in the heat, but a bit of captured air conditioner condensate perks it up. What is it?

A: Rudbeckia laciniata, aka the cutleaf rudbeckia, cutleaf coneflower or cutleaf black-eyed Susan.
