Schefflera – Growing in Low Light

Q: My schefflera has leaves turning brown and falling off in large numbers. It is sitting in a rather dark area. Is this the problem?

A: As you suspect, the low light level is exactly the problem. A schefflera normally is densely covered with leaves. Your plant’s leaves are thin and stretched out. The best thing for the plant would be to move it to a sunnier spot or to give it supplemental light. Remember, though, a fluorescent light should be no more than twelve inches from the leaves of the plant to do any good.

See this link for more information on measuring light levels indoors.
