Winter Protection – Black vs. Clear Plastic
Q: Which would be best to cover my plants with for the winter, black or clear plastic?
A: The black plastic will get hotter, but the temperature under it will stay cooler than if you’d covered with clear plastic.
Since you want to prevent plants from overheating as well as freezing, black is better (particularly if you can’t take off the plastic until several hours after the sun rises).
